2024 Rules for both leagues

NSA Canada Scarborough Tuesday and Thursday Leagues

Rosters

The final rosters for each team are due by June 11th only player on this roster can play in the playoffs. There are 20 spots allowed on each roster. 

Defence

is 7/3 Bat any number you want so long as never more 3 males in a row

Players

Need 8 players minimum to play 6-2 third female spot is an auto out other team will supply a catcher. can play 7-2 but third female spot is auto out.

Score Sheets

Coaches will give scores to umpires who will report to league.

Pitcher/Catcher

Pitcher catcher combo does not matter.

Walks

Any walked when there is a female player next,  the male will get a double and the female will have the option to walk or hit. The count does not matter.

Completed Games

A complete game is after the 1st pitch of the 4th inning. 

Late Players

Late players can de added to the bottom of the batting order up until the 1st pitch of the 4th inning.

Hitting

Females have the option of hitting the 11’ or 12 ‘ball.

Bases

Bases are supplied but teams should have back-up sets with them in case there is an issue with an umpire getting to the game on time.  ( for example sickness or car accident)

Injured Players

If a player is injured, they can be removed with no penalty.

Runners

Runner from the fence is allowed but must be playing 1st,  3rd, pitcher, catcher or the DH and must be declared at the start of the game with the umpire. Runner must be last out and the same gender. If they are not available goes to previous out.

Game Times

Games will be hour and 15 minutes.  No new inning will start after hour five the game will be dead at an hour 15 and score will revert to last inning if not complete.

Grace 

15 minutes grace period. After that it is a default. Grace can only be used if team has less than 8 players

Home Run Rule

Home run rule is 3 plus one home run hitters (walk off) are not to run bases but to go get the ball immediately. Going over homerun limits results in an out.

Courtesy Runners

6 courtesy runners are allowed. They must be the same gender.

Mercy 

 Five run max are allowed per inning. The last inning remains open. Game mercy rule is 12 runs after 5 innings.

Pitching

Pitch height is 6-12 feet. Pitching distance is 50 to 60 feet.

Infield

No 5 man infield

Throwing Out A Player

Cannot throw anyone out from the outfield on a hit or relay at first. Result is a triple

Fouls

Runners can tag on third strike foul if less then 2 out

First Base

Runner approching first base must only touch orange and the defender must only touch white. If the defender touches orange the runner is safe. If the runner touches white the runner is out.

Pitcher

 A pitcher is to get 5 warmups to start the game and a max of 3 between innings.

Commitment Line

Commit line is in effect cannot tag between the commit line and home once a runner crosses the line, they cannot go back result is an out

Sliding

No sliding at first or home. The result is an out. 

Ejected Players

 Any player ejected will automatically get the next game. If the same player is ejected a second time in the same year they could face a league suspension with no refund.

Ground Rules (Burrows Hall)

 Any contact with a tree or bush is a walk off home run. Any ball that bounces or rolls into the trees is a ground rule double. 

NSA legal bats will be allowed.

There is to be no alcohol at the diamonds period. Being seen with it will result in an instant injection

This league is intended to be safe and fun for everyone

Any league participant acting in any type of unsportsmanlike behavior or aggressive manner will be removed from the game.  If removed the player is to leave immediately or the game will be defaulted.  

Any player ejected twice in one season will be removed from the league for the year with no refund.  Any player making any type of sexual or anti-gay remarks, or anything deemed disrespectful will be removed from the game and possibly the league, with no refund. 

For our participants benefit, all league members and umpires will be covered by NSA Canada’s insurance plan.  This will allow us all to enjoy the sport of slo pitch knowing everyone is fully insured and covered.
